Duct tape to the rescue

Recommended Posts

Sparky

I picked up a 310-8 last weekend with the intentions of cleaning it up and selling it. Thought you all might get a chuckle out of the tie-rod repair done by the previous owner.

Sparky,

Wish I would have known to do that when a gearshift lever detached

from my manual shift Ford SHO transmission at the toll gate of the

NY Triborough Bridge some years ago. Instead, a temporary repair

was made with a nylon tie that got me back to RI. BTW, how is duct

tape different from helicopter tape?

I bought a tractor last summer guy told me the drive shaft was broken??? and he just wanted it gone, turns out the tie rod was broke, and had half a roll of duct tape on it, it's one of the best running tractors I own a C-120 for $75

Mike thats a classic. :notworthy:

Worst one I came across the owner had put a bit of a stick weld blob on them to keep them from comeing apart.

I pean the ends of mine to get a little more life out of them at times when I'm being cheap.

Helicopter tape is clear, it was origonally used to protect the leading edges of the blades from nicks and chips. Some cars come with it on the leading edges of the rear fenders to protect from stone chips. Indycars use it on their noses, and most of the leading edges for the same reason.

Its really tough, really expensive and really effective!!
