stevasaurus 23,279 #27 Posted December 1, 2009 I like nipply. Nice rig Gerry, interested to see what you and Duke figure out with the cables.
Curmudgeon 28 #28 Posted December 1, 2009 Cables? These two don't believe in cables, they are into electrons!
Gerry w 2 #29 Posted December 1, 2009 Duke's working on mind control now...no cables a all!! Charlie, Bell hooked me up with that blower, and then he took it apart and painted/reconditioned it for me! Did quite the job, it does look new and except for a few things that I had to fix it was ready to go!! We are starting to finally get snow here, so Im looking forward to using it for the next 5 months! Thanks for the comments guys! And Dales right, I'm just fine with nipply!! :notworthy:
Gerry w 2 #30 Posted December 9, 2009 Okay guys, used the Vermonster and it blew the snow good for about 15 to 20 minutes then lost power and no throttle, crawled it back into the garage and it won't even start now. Took off the plugs and they are completely fouled. Cleaned them up and still nothing.....smeeled of gas real strong when it first lost power but I couldn't get it in the garage fast enough to check that out. Plenty of gas, new filter, the plugs WERE new, ?????? Blows fire out the mufflers! now I'm pissed..... Good thing I had the Raider waiting for backup, THAT tractor never quits! Hey Gerry, How much snow have you gotten? Im hoping there will be enough when I get back home to try out my blower. Tried it out last night quick but I dont think there was enough to amount to anything.
Gerry w 2 #32 Posted December 9, 2009 I'd guess at 8 t 10 inches....
rickv1957 74 #33 Posted December 9, 2009 Gerry, did your carb float stick? Rick
Gerry w 2 #34 Posted December 9, 2009 I'm thinking it might have. There is gas under the bowl, so I'm wondering. How do I free that up??
Gerry w 2 #35 Posted December 9, 2009 Checked the points, they were closed, entirely. Adjusted them to .020 and they are right now, strong spark. Could water in the gas cause this issue? Freeze the carb up??
rickv1957 74 #36 Posted December 9, 2009 yes, water in gas could cause your problem,I always like to clean all my carbs and install a kit, about 10.00 at Oreillys,Rick

As for my toro dealer I wouldn't bet on them, that's why I got my Belt from you, they told me I had an invalid number!!
stevasaurus 23,279 #38 Posted December 10, 2009 Gerry, you may be able to pull the carb bowl off without taking off the carb. Maybe a 7/16 nut. Take off the bowl, and then with a good light, lift the bowl up and down and see if the needle valve moves with the bowl. Maybe carb clean and put it back together. If you pull the carb off...it is the same process only much easier to see what is going on. If the needle valve is sticking, I will sometimes give it a couple of passes on very fine wet/dry sand paper...clean and put back together. Works for me...good luck. :notworthy:
Gerry w 2 #39 Posted December 10, 2009 Thanks Steve, I'll try that with the bowl, see what I find. Thanks guys.
MaineDad 87 #40 Posted December 11, 2009 Gerry, I am guessing it is the carb too. My 314-8 used to shoot fire out the muffler when I first got it and it was the carb. Can you take the bowl off without taking the entire carb off? Good luck - I know it is cold out and not too fun to do this stuff at these temps!

I THINK I can, at least I'm going to try, I'm thinking it could have been crap in the gas too. Don't know, but going to take a look at it tomorrow when light out, go fuel for the space heater which will help! Thanks guys!
