bo dawg 478 #1 Posted November 8, 2009 What is a good cheap replacement 12v solenoid for my tractor. The old one is a 4 prong but only uses 3 I don't know a lot about them but can you use one from an auto store? The 2 smaller post is R and L which was using R (not sure meaning)
sorekiwi 761 #2 Posted November 8, 2009 IIRC the 3 prong solenoids earth through the bracket the solenoid is mounted to, and the 4 prong has a seperate earth wire running to the other small terminal. Not sure what the "R" and "L" stand for :notworthy:
bo dawg 478 #3 Posted November 9, 2009 Let me reask this question; I guess it didn't make sence. Other than paying a high price at a Toro dealer for a replacement solenoid, where else can I find one at? What would work on my tractor?
pfrederi 17,173 #4 Posted November 9, 2009 Any Solenoid at Lowe's, Tractor Supply or Home Depot would work for about $
N.C. horserider 5 #5 Posted November 9, 2009 bodawg I use the older Ford selenoids from the auto parts store. Never had any problems. Early 80's will work. They come with 4 terminals just don't use the "I" terminal that was for Ford ignition.
