Paint and bronze bushings

Recommended Posts

bitten

Had to make a new hood hinge, and while I was at it installed bronze bushings. Now I need to paint the rod but not sure if the paint will be a good thing with the bronze. Wish I could have made it out of stainless steel but went with what I had. Im thinking that paint with a good hardener will be OK but just not sure.

Thanks for any advise.

P.J.

I dont know why I said bronze its brass.

Save Old Iron

you would think paint would hold to a roughened bronze surface - unless the material is impregnated with a lubricant like some bushing material :notworthy:

if paint refuses to stick to the bronze - maybe a painted aluminum sleeve over the bronze would solve the issue - I might just polish the bronze and brag about my new shiny bronze hood hinge support rod !!
