VinsRJ's 1956 RJ-35

Recommended Posts

VinsRJ

Thought I would post up some pics of my RJ-35. The only thing its missing is the belt guard. The hood is waivy but its not cut nor has it been drilled. My brother had the Clinton 1290 with the 110V electric starter in stock so the K91 which was on the unit was removed and replaced with the Clinton. The Clinton starts right up and purrs like a kitten. Resto on this one will not start until, at the earliest, next spring. Due to space issues and time issues its already been packed away for winter. :notworthy:

Looks to be in fairly nice shape. I like that reel mower up front. That is the first time I ever saw one mounted up. :notworthy:

Judging by the parts on your tractor it is a late 1956. It has the 3 spoke rubber wheel, stamped steel hitch, and the bumps are facing inwards to the tractor on the pawl plates. A lot of people use the 1956 decals on these tractors but they should have the 1957 decals. A good example is how dukes tractor was before he restored it. I saw a couple just like it at the show. It is basically a 1957 with black wheels.

If you decide to part with that starter let me know :notworthy::thumbs::WRS:

Nice Find!

Very nice. :notworthy: As easy as these RJs pop wheelies, I'd keep the reel mower mounted as a counter-weight..........

I like the electric starter but does it have the capibility to be pull started with that on there? I was wondering how you would start it if it stalled while working in the back 40. Do you have to carry a very very long extension cord? :notworthy:

You could have one on the Kohlers as well Mike, at least up into the 1960 400, and probably the 401 from '61.
