can whlvr 994 #1 Posted November 8, 2009 i finally came across a tiller for my fleet,i found a 36 from a 1977 c 120,this thing is great,it really works well, now i can level some areas by tilling first then plow it where i need it,all these years i have wondered why they put such low gears, untill you till you dont know,1st gear low range is too fast when breaking new ground,so i go over it again,i think it might have to go on the auto next year
KyBlue 655 #2 Posted November 8, 2009 Yep them Tillers are great... I got the same problem with 1st low not being low enough...i usually end up having to work the clutch and brake to keep it going slow enough.....
chamjack 0 #3 Posted November 8, 2009 Thats a nice set-up. That tiller appears to be in real nice shape. You can go through faster if you break the ground with a single bottom plow first, then take the tiller through after. Our soil here has a lot of clay in it. It can get really hard at times. I have a hard time breaking ground with a 5' shaft driven tiller on the back of a 46 hp New Holland Boomer. I dont have a tiller for my horse yet, but its not from a lack of trying. I would like to find one as nice as the one in your picture :notworthy:

can whlvr 994 #6 Posted November 9, 2009 the tiller was a direct fit,the 414 allready had the plow brackets on it so it took 5 minutes to install.

420lse 18 #10 Posted January 2, 2010 Nice looking set-up. I try to use a moldboard on fresh ground. It helps to loosen the soil but also unearths those peskie rocks.

whfan74 2,071 #12 Posted January 3, 2010 That's a great looking tiller! I agree with going over with a plow first and then following up with the tiller! That baby will do some good work for you! :banghead:
