Wheel horse flail mower

Recommended Posts

Stigian

I spotted this on ebay the other week and had to have a bid on it (sorry to the other bidder if your on here) on the grounds of i don't think I will ever see another one for sale!!

I don't know what make it is (don't think its WH) and can't decide if it's been custom made or modified to work on a WH, but it is very well built and very heavy being made out of 1/4 inch plate.

And it also got stuck.. Both wheels are tight against the concrete footings!!

As is the way at Castle Da'Stig the video camera had to come out for some action footage

Very interesting Ian. I have never seen anything like that on any brand tractor. So does it cut or shred the vegation your cutting? What happens if it hits something like a sapling of say 1/2" diameter?

As allways a cool video. Seems like I have seen that movie star on the tractor somewhere before :notworthy: !

Ian

Didnt anyone tell you that you are to cut in a straight line? :notworthy: If you mow that field you wont have any rabbits to hunt

I like it. Would be great for the Black Walnut orchard. I see were there is room for some modifications. Bigger and pneumatic boggy wheels looks like it would flow better and not dig into the ground.

Thanks Scott..

The video is all down to Garry being a bit on the good side with the camera, if he ever leaves the railway he could get a job filming I recon :notworthy:

Actually, I'd ditch those bogie wheels completely and use skids . If you made a fixed tube with a welded nut and a bolt to lock it down it could even be adjustable.

It would really be nice to incorporate some way to use the tractor's lift system.

I would think using the sack barrow wheels would only get them caught on the brush and possibly damage the rubber engine mounts....
