Kohler KT19 Twin Shaft size help

Recommended Posts

stevebo

I have an opportunity to buy a Kohler KT19 twin series II with the following size shaft

1 1/8"D x 3 25/32"L

Is this the right size for a wheelhorse pto ?? I am looking to use this to replace my series I on my C175. Thanks- :scratchead:

I'm no expert, but I think that is the correct size. I think this is the size used on the C-195, so I would think it would be the same size for your C-175. That's a great find. I have been looking for one for my C-195, it has a Series 1 engine and is getting tired and burning some oil.

The KT19 in my C195 is 1 1/4 not 1 1/8th The one for a KT17 is 1 1/8

Hmmm, All my 195s have 1 1/8, standard WH crank size.

You need to check the spec number on the motor you are looking at. Most Series II did not have ball bearings on the crankshaft. For WH spec motors Kohler put in a flat needle thrust bearing to take up the PTO end loading. Specs for other companies that used electric PTOs (JD Cub etc) don't have the thrust bearing and you will probably have to use an electric PTO or fit an external thrust bearing and plate as WH on some models that used B&S motors.....

Repower Your Wheel Horse C-195 Equipment

Click below on the model number of your equipment

to find any available replacement engines.

Wheel Horse C-195 Notes

Original Engine: Kohler KT19

some of the original specs were 49110 & 49146 in which an engine and shortblock are no longer available.

You could use a Magnum 18 or 20hp with a 1 1/8" x 3 25/32" shaft on it, the ignition will be different and you will need to add a toggle switch to ground the engine to kill.
