rockbuilt 7 #1 Posted October 28, 2009 First I would like to thank Save_old_Iron for your help with photos I will try later I wanted to testify as to how I became a wheel horse enthusiast I grew up in suburban Baltimore and later lived in the city. When I moved to the country I needed a tractor to cut @1 1/4 acres of grass I bought a Wards (MTD) 10 HP lawn tractor for $100.00 of course it only lasted one and 1/4 seasons when it broke down totally in the middle of cutting season I had to get something else I answered and ad for a WH when I went to look at it (my C100) the man also had a comparable JD for the same price I looked them both over, not knowing anything about them and decided the WH seemed to be a more hardy machine and it looked better too. naturally I brought home the 1975 C100 with cultivator and garden plow. I could not have been happier with my purchase. when I brought it home I made friends with my neighbor who told me what a great tractor I had, He has a 520H. after two year i began to have some electrical problems (my fault I did not have a proper place to store) that always seemed to present at the worst times so I decided to get another so if one was in need of repair I could still cut grass. I saw one for sale and decided to stop back after work to look at it but it was already sold THAT FAST so when I saw another (my C120 auto) I did not hesitate I called at 7:45 AM the guy told me it had been for sale for 15 minuates I bought it with cultivator and dirt/snow plow for $275.00 I also got a dirt/snow plow for the C100 and had decided to use the auto for cutting grass and the 8 speed for snow I have been hooked ever since. I recently bought the D250 I guess because my friend had the 520H and I had to have one bigger than his(yes mine is bigger). I never intended to be a collector I just love to use them but now I am going to begin restoring them Thanks for reading Rocks-Tractors

jpmcleod 4 #4 Posted October 28, 2009 Glad someone else has been bitten by the collector sickness. I have had a C120 for the last 15 years or so, and it will never be for sale as long as I am alive. I have others, but the C120 just has that look.

stevasaurus 23,274 #6 Posted October 28, 2009 great story...easy to get the bite isn't it? Nice tractors also. I think the test of a great hobby is being able to use it and also being able to share it. :scratchead:
WH nut 553 #7 Posted October 29, 2009 I started out using a WH as a kid, dont even know what model but always loved it. After I got married my ex father inlaw was a WH dealer so I was able to dabble awhile with him. I was given an old 704 back in about 95 and have grown form there. I now have a 704, 1075 raider 12, B80, 310-8 and a 520H. I look everyday for more. :scratchead:
