Indy w h 5 #2 Posted October 25, 2009 Put ya a prybar or big screwdriver between the flywheel and the case and apply some prussure outwards and with a lead hammer or a hard rubber mallet wack the threaded end of the crank. It should come off with a few blows. The flywheel and crank are both tappered so a few whacks should do it. Indy
Don1977 605 #3 Posted October 25, 2009 Run the nut level with end of the shaft and use a brass hammer. Don't be afraid the hit it. I was 14 or so when I was trying to get a fly wheel off of a gokart engine. Took it over to the local machinist. He came out with a big hammer one lick and off it came. Said that will be 50 cents. I found out right there that I was not using a big enough hammer, haven't forgot it either. :ychain:
