bork 0 #1 Posted October 21, 2009 I noticed it has two dogs to lock in place. Reminds me of a mercury outboard tank I used to have. Are there different ones available? ( like for a dirt bike which has a tube attached to center, on top of cap, & running somewhere else, for venting.) I'm nervous about fumes next to the starter/generator. Has anyone found a gasket material that works? I could cut out myself?(old gasket shrunk)
Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted October 21, 2009 Go to a auto parts store and get some cork, gasket material and make a new gasket.
Sarge 3,465 #3 Posted October 22, 2009 Most of the older steel gas caps had a rubber gasket-5186 is the part number for the cap...can't find the gasket number right now. Sarge

64s 83 #6 Posted October 22, 2009 Be careful with rubber - if its not specifically made for fuel contact it will deform before you get a 100 yards away. :scratchead:

Sarge 3,465 #8 Posted October 22, 2009 The cap's part number is now 55-4700, $4.92 from Sohar's. Any Toro dealer should be able to get it. Sarge
