Parts stores

Where is the best place to get parts for our Wheelhorses? I have a Workhorse 700 and what to get her in good running condition. I bought a slightly used Craftsman mower from a friend and it is complete junk. I figute I will just slowly restore the old Wheelhorse and have a better running more dependable tractor. Plus I can get rid of the other mower and have more room in my garage. For starts I am going to need a carb. and the cup on the bottom of the mower deck spindle. I have found the part numbers on parts tree, just curious if there is a better or cheaper place to get parts. I live near Terre Haute, IN and would drive little to get the parts. Any help would be great!

Not all of us live in Indiana and it sounds like you want to go in person. Cadillac Ranch in Clifford PA treats me well getting parts but it may be out of your way.

There are several internet stores

RCPW I have used http://www.rcpw.com/

If you're looking for NEW parts, then your choice is going to be a Toro dealer (check your local listings) or an on-line source. I have compiled a good sized list in the links section to help with on-line sources, you should check it out. We also have a vendor section where you can contact and inquire about parts and supplies that they have.

For used parts, Craigslist.org, eBay.com and the classified section here usually have all the parts you may need.

Thanks guys! I don't really care about buying in person, just thought someone may be from around here that wanted to get rid of some unneeded stuff or sold stuff on the side. I appreciate the help, my search begins!!!

G-pa, There are some members here who live very close to you! If you post in the wanted section for the parts you need, I'm sure you'll here from some of them. There are quite a few small towns near T-Haute, which one you in?

It's a little ways up the road from you, but Humphreys Outdoor Power in Greencastle, Indiana (Putnam County) are awesome. If they dont have it in stock, they'll get it within a week, and their prices are normally pretty good

G-Pa...which horse do you have...like the members said...a ton of good guys live close enough to you that they may be able to help. Another good source of parts are the tractor shows that abound around us in the summer..I invite you to make the Charlott, Mick show in Aug. next year. If you post for parts, I'm sure someone could bring it to the show for you, or any of the shows for that matter. :scratchead:

I sent you a PM on a local contact who has used parts.

For your new stuff or maintenance needs you really ought to find a local small engine shop and build a rapport with them. You'll help keep them in business and in turn they may help you find things you didn't even know you were looking for.

I say this a couple times a year, but it's worth reiterating:

Shop your local dealership whenever possible. He will seldom be the cheapest source of parts but you may be miles ahead keeping him in business.

No, actually a guy named Stan. I didn't want to post his phone number so I did the PM thing.

I didn't even think of Fritz :scratchead: . There are actually a few guys in this area (Jon, Fritz, me...). You'd think we'd get together sometime...
