Ken B 3,189 #1 Posted October 17, 2009 How well does a C-100 push snow with the non posi rear? I had a 603 last winter I installed a 7hp Kohler on with two link chains and no weights. The 603 was unstoppable. I hope the C-100 is at least as good as the 603 was! Any input is appreciated.
buckeyebill440 0 #2 Posted October 17, 2009 c121 pushes great! 12 hp kohler, chains, no weights. Pushes too good.....
bitten 134 #3 Posted October 17, 2009 Should do just fine, might have to add weights.
Docwheelhorse 2,740 #4 Posted October 17, 2009 The C100 will push fine with weights... Find a set of Turf Trac RS tires off of a 300 and you won't believe how well they grab!!!!! You won't need chains on pavement there so good. Tony
Suburban 550 28 #5 Posted October 17, 2009 My C-121 8 speed is virtually unstoppable plowing snow. I have wheel weights and tire chains on it and have yet to get it stuck. You shouldn't have any problems with your C-100. :scratchead:

Ken B 3,189 #7 Posted October 18, 2009 Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm gonna find some 2 link chains and some weights. Hey Fireman: You are literally right down the road from me! Awesome pics!
Sparky-(Admin) 23,138 #8 Posted October 18, 2009 I used to plow with a B-100 8speed which is just about identical to your C-100 and it was great. I used about 75#s on each rear rim with TITAN Turf Tras RS 2ply's and it was almost unstoppable. I think one of the reasons the old tractors like your 603 push snow so well is the skinny tires. They seem to sink into the snow rather than ride on top like a wide tire and really bite in. Mike.........
JoeMonag 1 #9 Posted October 19, 2009 Hey FIreman, is that an extension on the top of your plow on your c- 81? , and how wide is your plow. I have a 400' paved driveway.; Anything over 6-8" Ihave to get out my walk behind 26" snow thrower. How long of a drive do you plow and what speed do you use. I had my 42" plow on an old 73 8hp 4 speed for years.; Two years ago I up graded to a 310-8, and have chains and 55lb weights onthe rear. I'm only about 155 lbs, so I need the weights. I would like to eventually have a second Wheel horse set up with a snow blower, as it is a lot of walking 5 passes up and down the driveway with a 26" Heavy duty Snapper. My boys are grown and out of the house.; I use to have one drive the plow and I would follow with the walk behind blower to do clean up, that system worked great . I'm still useing the 42" plow onthe 310-8 . I keep a 2.4 kw gen set on the front Attach_o-matic, it seems to keep the front down, and give me better sterring control, it weighs about 60lbs. Any suggestions on plowing techniques, would be great, as this ole dog can learn new tricks.; Joe in Norton

fireman 1,022 #11 Posted October 19, 2009 Joe, Yes, that's a piece of 1/8" aluminum bolted to the top edge of the plow. The blade is 48". My drive way is 120' long and about 20' wide. The pictures above was between 6 to 8 inches of heavy pack snow and the C-81 plowed it no problem. I also have a snow blower for it too but I prefer the plow. This year the C-81 now has a loader on it and the plow will be on the 1077. Essentially the two tractors are the same except the 1077 is an auto plus it has a hydraulic lift which will make it easier for the wife to use when i'm at work . I will use the C-81 to move the large piles on snow that accumulate. As far as speed during plowing it really depends on the type of snow. I play around each time and see what works best for what's on the ground. Jeff
