C120 wiring and battery questions

1. what size wire should i buy 16 or 18 gauge?

2. where does the ground cable from the battery go, up on the ront of the dash support where the wire channel bolts on?

3. My battery is about 3/4" or so smaller than the batter box, do you shim up with some small pieces of plywood?

What are you wiring 16 would be good for most everything, The ground from the battery should go to the motor, probably mount, if the motor is insolated from the frame then you need to run on to the frame also

thanks, mine is bolted directly to frame.

so how do you shim the battery, will strips of plywood work ok?

don't worry about the footprint of the battery being slightly smaller than the battery box - no shims needed - when you tighten the battery hold down bracket both the battery and the battery box will secured in the tractor. Some battery boxes will have a fitting for a piece of tubing which should be directed down away from the tractor frame - this tubing will direct any battery electrolyte spills out of the battery box and safely onto the ground.

I used a piece of "1 by" across the back end of the battery in my Charger 12, but a piece or two of plywood would work equally well. Use something thick enough that the nuts on the retaining strap across the end tighten before bottoming out.
