I would like to know all about D series tractors : transmissions/ hydro /reliability/value at work etc.... Thanks for your answers /Gilou Edited Friday at 07:13 PM by Gilou15
ri702bill 13,050 #2 Posted Friday at 08:22 PM The D series are much larger than the C series; they are a true Compact Tractor. They were made in Belgium - the 2 smaller ones - D180 and D200 had Onan engines I believe. The big boy, the D250 had a 25HP liquid 4 cylinder Renault car engine. The two biggest drawbacks are that no implements for the D series interchange with other models. And since they were made roughly 45 years ago, finding replacement parts can be a challenge.....
953 nut 69,285 #3 Posted 23 hours ago The D series is a heavy duty unit. The Sundstrand hydrostatic transmission is directly coupled to the engine and its output is connected to the drive axle by hydraulic piping. The Kohler engines are an industrial grade unit unlike the ones used on the 400 and 500 series Wheel Horses. There may not be very many "D" series units in Europe as I beleave they were only made in the USA.

The D-160, 180 and 200 were made by Wheel Horse in Indiana (USA) The D250 is actually a re-badged Gotbrod tractor made on Belgium.
