ri702bill 13,016 #2 Posted 7 hours ago My only concern with shoulder bolts - the aggressive undercut between the inner end of the threads and the working diameter. Side force, even not excessive, can shear them in two. I often specified precision shoulder bolts, as the threads are held very close to being concentric with the working diameter. The receiving part would have a close-fit shallow counterbore or pocket, then the threads. This way, the shear forces went into the part - the threads did just the fastening... peter lena 10,053 #5 Posted 31 minutes ago @ri702bill ironically most of the stuff I have changed over to , you don't even initially see, when I did the plow frame over , used a roller stool to scoot around and analyze problem function , that lets you hunt around for every stage of movement . thats where you find the problems , use the same theory to eliminate / chronic problems . w/h tractors are a gold mine for improvement , bought my c-85 new in 82 , love that thing , also have 2 other units . keep in touch , pete
