HorseFixer 2,013 #1 Posted October 13, 2009 I have a chance to possibly get a 418A. Was considering this machine to be used with a snow blower most likely a single stage Tall Chute. Any Opinions of this machine compared to a C-120 Auto Any Pitfalls with this model? How do the engines hold up? :hide:
Sparky-(Admin) 23,134 #2 Posted October 13, 2009 Duke, I had one for awhile with something like 1800 hours on it and it was a bear. I sold it to someone who used to be a member here and to the best of my knowledge he is still using it. It ran my single stage blower with ease and never bogged down in any depth of snow. The hydraulic lift was a nice feature as well. Like everyone on here allways says, try to run the thing as much as possible before buying to make sure the hydro is good. Mike.......... Rideawaysenior 25 #3 Posted October 13, 2009 Duke, I also owned one. As a matter of fact, Sparky bought it from me. That tractor has endless power and can do anything you task it too. I used a dozer blade to grade an area of my yard. I locked the blade so it wouldn't trip, and put 100lbs of lead weight on the front of the plow A frame. All it did was dig, dig, dig. I knew that there was plenty of power but didn't know it had this much. If you have an opportunity, and the price is right, ****** it up. If I recall, they only made them for one year too. I think the 417 was the older brother, the 418 was then introduced and was soon replaced with the 500 series. Jack
pfrederi 18,638 #4 Posted October 13, 2009 Mine is a really hard worker...Plenty of grunt. As noted before you buy get her hot and test the hydro on a steep hill or climbing out of a ditch. No special engine issues. One weak spot is the stupid idiot lights. They are not needed to use the machine but can be a real PIA to keep working.
