My 312-8,85 model

Biker 777

Just recently picked up my first Red lawn tractor.

Did not run but I know Kohler motors from my Green tractors so I knew it would run soon.

Took a few hours the get the fuel tank out and un plugged up line and new gas and it fired right up,ran good but did not want to go up grades.

After doing some research I found the idler pulley wasn’t being pulled back far enough to allow the belt to tighten,so I figure it’s the spring on the left and sure enough it was stretched out,put the new one in and the clutch was more pressure but it still did not like hills and left me walking on a grade.

I pulled off the right side footrest and then I could see the idler wasn’t returning to tighten up the belt but I could pull it back but it would not stay so the more I looked the more I learned that the idler ran through the frame to the clutch arm and the weren’t talking to each other and there was a pin that tied them together and apparently it is sheared but I can’t find the correct size and I’m in Texas and the tractor is in Georgia so I can't measure it to get a new one.

So the point of my post is to find the proper size that I can get locally.

It would depend on which side the pin sheared on. Both are 1.25" long but one is 3/16" and one is 5/32" best I can tell. Click on the fuzzy pic below to download the manual for that machine.
