ebinmaine 80,388 #1 Posted yesterday at 09:52 AM We see a lot of questions regarding faltering engines under load. Heat sink problems. Testing procedures for ignitions. These two videos show some very good information about the subject. The first one, about the spark plug gaps, gets particularly intuitive around the halfway point. 2 1

Handy Don 17,336 #3 Posted 23 hours ago Watching the chainsaw demo with absolutely NO protective gear and swiping the bar down toward the user’s leg? He lost a lot of credibility with me right at the get go.
953 nut 68,588 #4 Posted 17 hours ago Closing the plug gap may get it running TEMPORARILY. There will be a loss of power due to incomplete combustion, unburned fuel can wash the cylinder wall lubrication if the bad plug isn't replaced promptly. 1

It'll work as a diagnostic tool. Then..... fix it right.
lynnmor 9,013 #6 Posted 3 hours ago Years ago, I bought aftermarket ignition coils for my Arctic Cat snowmobile from Dennis Kirk. First time with the new coils they failed several miles back in the woods on a little used trail. It was getting dark and snow started falling and I was at the bottom of a steep trail with no chance of towing it out with the other sled. After exhausting all options, I banged the spark plug gaps to just a few thousandths and it fired right up. Made it to road where it completely died in the middle. We rode double on a single passenger sled and got the trailer to retrieve it. Kirk said to send them back, after which they said there is no warranty on electrical items even with the juice running out of them. Never again from those clowns.
