k91 Oil Bath Question

Recommended Posts

stevebo

I have an original k91 kohler out of a 58 rj. I want to sandblast the oil bath housing in prep to repaint it. Does the top part come off the bottom? I know if I blast it I will need to really wash out the parts so no sand gets inside the engine. It looks like it does not come apart?? Thanks-

The filter section does not separate on the two I have. I would prep it another way. The filter section does separate from the bowl that holds the oil

I guess the best way to prep it will be to get all the oil out and then dip it in the E tank... thanks John.

I would soak in lacquer thinner; 1) it will clean the oil out of it and 2) it will remove the old paint. Light scotch brite pad on the rusted areas and its ready for paint.
