93 Toro 416H 1 #1 Posted Tuesday at 04:36 PM Hi everyone, My Dad & I were Wheel Horse dealers for many years. My Dad passed away and I am since retired. I have a 1993 Wheel Horse/Toro model 416H with the Onan engine. I am in need of parts for my tractor. They are as follows: # 116470 Muffler # 114214/57-9210 Exhaust Gaskets (2) # 71-5980 Intake Manifold Gaskets (2) # 57-8280 Valve Cover Gaskets (2) I have a loud clicking noise in my engine that has over 1000 hours on it. Not sure if it's a loose baffle in the muffler or a valve that needs adjustment. Any help you can be in locating these parts would be greatly appreciated. What is the correct valve lash setting on that engine? Thank you, John Pfennig 5179 Mapleton Rd Lockport, NY 14094 jhpennig@yahoo.com 716-530618 jhpfennig@gmail.com
lynnmor 8,971 #2 Posted Tuesday at 09:07 PM Download the Onan Service Manual for information. I don't know if your part numbers are correct. You might find a muffler on eBay. Do a compression test first thing to see if you have bigger problems. I doubt that valve adjustment will cure the noise. Visit our vendors section to ask about parts.
ri702bill 12,699 #3 Posted Tuesday at 09:18 PM Welcome! Do the compression test next. Onan's are infamous for valve seats loosening up their press fit in the block after 1100 hours or so.....

Even a compression test might not reveal a loose valve seat because the valve may seal against the seat and the seat may seal against the block. Yes, I have seen this with a seat that wasn't too bad. But yes, low compression and the head needs to come off. Edited 3 hours ago by lynnmor
Retired Wrencher 6,903 #5 Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Sorry to hear about your dads and your shop. It is sad to see that not many shops left that are open. It all on the net now. rmaynard 17,495 #6 Posted 6 hours ago My 416-H has almost 1800 hours. No engine problems other than the normal carburetor stuff. That 16hp Onan is more reliable in the valve seat department than the 20hp in my opinion. As far as the muffler, keep an eye on eBay, or contact Lincoln at A to Z, or some of our other vendors. You could also place a want ad in the classified section.
