I think the 520 hoods had a bit more shine, like the guys said semi gloss or even gloss. Most of the old 520 hoods I have had, the paint job from the factory was chincy and rubbed though and faded. Flat is more forgiving later if you have to touch up here and there from scratches too. The more gloss, the more blemishes will show up. Personally, flat looks better to me.
