trying to ID a 36 rear discharge deck

Hi all,

I have a Wheel Horse Commando 800 with a 36-inch mower deck. I recently noticed that the mower deck has become very noisy when it is running.

I removed the deck and found that the plastic idler pulley is very sloppy and noisy. I don't think this pulley is original, and I'm not even sure it is the correct size.

Does anyone know what the correct part number is? Were there multiple idler pulleys depending on the deck model or serial number? Unfortunately, the deck has been repainted multiple time - I don't have the model/serial information for the deck.

Do I need to somehow identify the specific deck to determine the correct part number?

Is there a measurement I can take from the deck that would help identify the correct pulley?

I'm pretty sure the plastic idler pulley that's on there now is not the original/stock pulley. I can get a picture if that helps.

Here are the possible deck model numbers to help with your searching. We should have the ipl's for all of them in our mower deck files.

Mower DNA

1972 model 5-0620 replaced by

1973-1974 model 5-0621

1975 model 5-0622

1976 model 65-36XR01

1977 model 75-36XR01

1977 model 75-36XR02

1978 model 85-36MR01

1979 model 95-36MR00 (Blades up to this point have the 5/8" x 3/4" double-D center hole unless the spindle has been upgraded)

Oh I should add that I am also look for the PART # for the (left/right) deck wheels at the rear of the deck.

they appear to be well made - the bearings are fine...  the rubber on the wheels is nearly gone.

When comparing decks it is quicker to use an onsite look-up such as this. Just enter the model numbers as posted.

Armed with original and superseded part numbers you can search out the aftermarket sources.

my bad - labels are on the the deck but important info seems to be missing.

Toro 7434 Idler Pulley Superseded to Toro 112426 ???

The link you posted for the 5-7362 deck is not one that fits your tractor and the blades run counter-clockwise. Not in the list I posted earlier.

I can't tell from the picture but the size of the nuts on top of the pulleys will tell ypu what spindle are in your deck. Will also tell the approxmate age of deck.

3/4"nuts have 3/4 keyed spindles they are early 80's decks, 5/8" nuts have metric spindles age 85 and later decks.

The 7434 should be the right idler, alot of 36" rear discharge used that idler.
