Kohler Magnum 18 Flywheel Puller

I need to remove the flywheel in my 418-A to service (possibly replace) the stator.

 I want to make sure I buy the correct flywheel puller…

can someone post a link to which puller I should get?

Section 7 of this manual should be referred to. If you do not have access to a long strap wrench you can remove the engine drive pulley and use a pipe wrench with the key inserted on the shaft keyway.

I wouldnt use a pipe wrench , they tend to mar the crank.. I'd use an open end wrench of the same size as the shaft diameter.

If you have an open end wrench of that size this is a good suggestion. As long as the jaw of the pipe wrench is securly contacting the key and the back of the pipe wrench is contacting the shaft there won't be any problem, I have done it several times.

I'm not familiar with this engine model but with K-series, I replace the PTO with a spare wheel hub. Any long bar run through the lug bolts to the floor will hold the crank from turning.
