JOEPOE1977 0 #1 Posted July 29 Was running perfectly after I broke another belt, which I am still trying to figure out. Not it will not start. Turns over new battery and spark plug, but will not start. I let it set a couple of weeks, but will not run.Ahh.
Achto 32,129 #2 Posted July 29 Need to give a bit more info if you could. Are you missing spark, gas, or compression?
Racinbob 13,054 #3 Posted July 29 Definitely like Dan said, we need more info. I'm leaning into something electrical aggravated during the belt replacement. That's one issue. The other is your belt problem. I looked back at the PTO posts you had. Your deck spindles, mule drive, and PTO itself need to be checked out. I don't like the looks of the PTO. You don't need to remove the bearing from the clutch housing to service it. Here's a bit on what I did to one. Dino Part 5 - Restorations, Modifications, & Customizations - RedSquare Wheel Horse Forum The mule drive and spindle bearings need to be free and smooth. I'm getting excellent service with sealed spindle bearings. I believe I'm on the 5th season with one of my decks with the sealed bearings and I mow a lot. In any case I feel like there must be a bearing/drag issue someplace. You shouldn't be going through belts like that. I may have the stuff you need if replacement is needed. Spindles from a 1979 42" RD, pto housing and mule drive. You're only about an hour and a half west. On another note guys, I know Dino Part 9 is way over do. It's coming. I've just been too tied up with a deck rebuild, generator installation, and a gazillion other summer projects.
JOEPOE1977 0 #4 Posted 14 hours ago Well I tried to start my 310-8 no luck and no smell of fuel. I am going to replace the carb tomorrow. There is a 90 degree fitting the one end go from the gas line the other end in to the carb. Is there any paste or tape that I have to put on the end which goes into the carb? If I do what would that be. Hopefully I can get a name of it so I start there.

Just keep in mind that even the tiniest bit of sealant that escapes the joint and enters the carburetor will cause problems. I never use tape or sealant on fuel lines since the proper fittings are all designed to seal mechanically.
953 nut 67,606 #7 Posted 3 hours ago I should have specified using using the slightest amount applied to the male fitting away from the first threads.
