What model Wheelhorse?

Recommended Posts

Afternoon,

Marketplace seller just posted this for $50.00 about 4 hours round trip.
What model, deck be usual with my 856? Any parts worth keeping off this tractor? Seller said.. owned 30 years.. motor locked up, transmission good. Needs total restoration seals tires and all. Been sitting 15 years, he’s not sure why locked up. What are chances transmission still good? I know majority of this group is anti predator engines.. but this seems like it would be prefect chasis to keep alive with one?

Thinking it is a 604 ,pull start Tecumseh 6hp...1964.  Deck looks like it could be a 32"...maybe a 36".  Tractor looks to be complete.  No belt guard.  :occasion-xmas:  Should clean up nice...put a Honda engine on it.

36 deck.

Unless consciously abused, the transmission is likely redeemable.

Might not be the original engine (I don’t recognize the starter/cooling air intake cowling).

The two-spoke steering wheel is a personal favorite.

Good rehab candidate in my book!

Hood looks original, uncut. You have to remove the steering wheel (or wheel & shaft) to get the hood completely off.....

604/704. What's not original are the engine, rear tires, throttle and choke controls and the seat

Definitely worth $50 in parts or a restoration candidate.

The right axle area looks quite dirty, so I suspect the seal is shot.
