Well, after scratching my head for a few weeks, I finally decided to backtrack and it paid off. No more backfiring all the time I ran out for a good 2 to 3 minutes and I say I had about five no more than 10 in those two minutes popping a little bit in the beginning once everything settled down it ran really good so I guess I’m pretty happy with it the way it turned out. I’ll take it for a little ride up the street in a little while and see how it does under a load. Enjoy the video. Also I have an electronic or handheld RPM gauge, and it seems to be much more steady in the numbers. Before it was bouncing all over the place I don’t know if that has anything to do with it and just putting it out there.

953 I believe it was  It was the valves. They are new Kohler Valves. I think I did not lap them in enough. I had a slight rig on valve. Now there is nice full ring showing on the valve and seat.  But I went thru every thing = points condenser and all wiring. So now very little popping. Now I need the throttle linkage past the governor. The one that came with this tractor was pretty well gone, so Walfish made me up something. It just doesn’t work well so I gotta do some research on all those part numbers. Thanks for the post.
