ri702bill 12,395 #2 Posted 5 hours ago It is a 1960's Lawn Ranger. It has a 32" gear drive cutting deck. The metal is in excellent shape for its age - particularly the seat. The Kohler looks to be the wrong engine - most likely would have come with a 6 hp Tecumseh.... Missing the choke & throttle controls - and the "ignition" switch. The lower portion of the hood at the steering shaft has been cut to allow removal (originally, you had to remove the steering wheel to do so). Is it worth $350?? IMHO - no. The deck, if fully operational, and seat may be worth 2/3rds of that. Someone will chime in - It is either the 32" or 36" version that the cutting blades are NLA and there are no reproductions either.... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I would have thought it’s in great shape with how it looks. Oh they cut the hood? I couldn’t even tell. What is the factory indent in the top of the hood with those 2 holes for? Gas tank mount? Blaine 148 #9 Posted 1 hour ago 1964 34R/34E Lawn Ranger The two holes on the hood are for thumb screws. The left hole in the dash is for the ignition kill switch and the right hole is for the throttle. The lower center hole is for the electric starter switch (34E) i think the choke may have been on the engine. Round hoods don’t pop up for sale that often any more, at least not around here. The 32” deck appears solid. Bearings are available. Never had a need to replace the blades on any of mine, just a quick sharpening. These gear drive rear discharge decks cut beautifully, and they don’t blast grass all over anything in your path also. Cutting height on the early gear drive decks is changed by unbolting the deck wheels and moving them up or down in a series of holes. The rest of the hood appears solid and reasonably straight. The cut area could be repaired but i would probably leave it if it’s going to be a work tractor. As with any hobby, you can throw more money at it than it’ll ever be worth, but spending maybe $500 total to make a good mower out of it is far better than throwing money away fixing up a big box store model in my opinion. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
