WH854 45 #1 Posted October 10, 2009 Any of you guys got an easy way getting shut off valve out of plastic gas tanks. I tried to replace mine, they don't come out very easy. I am afraid I will split the plastic if I get to rough with it any suggestion will be appreciated. Chas. :hide:
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted October 10, 2009 Try to push a small screwdriver, awl, etc. up between the valve and the rubber bushing and inject some liquid soap while twisting the tool. Once you get the shut-off freed from the bushing, pull it out first and then remove the bushing.

WHC-125 4 #4 Posted October 10, 2009 Chas, I have had to do that several times on C series and 300 series. It is even more fun putting it back together :scratchead:
chamjack 0 #5 Posted October 10, 2009 I agree with WHC-125. I replaced mine on my C and it came out relatively easy. Putting the new one back in was a real bear .
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #6 Posted October 10, 2009 :scratchead: I'm not sure why you guys had problems installing these parts - especially if they're new. Soap up the rubber bushing, push it into the hole in the tank, then push the shut-off into the bushing. But..... if you tried to install the bushing on the shut-off and then put them into the tank together, then that's the problem.
