Determining If Safety Swith(es) or Solenoid Issues?

So i replaced the solenoid, and the engine started with the key.  I went back over all the conncections I had taken off in replacing the solenoid, and tightened them all up.  Tried to restart, Nope.  No go.  

I jumped the solenoid, and engine turned over and actually fired up while the screwdriver was jumping the two solenoid terminal.  As soon as I took the screwdriver away, the engine died.

Is this a solenoid issued or a safety lockout issue?

Can you tell me where the safety lockouts for the clutch and PTO are?  I took the seat switch out years ago, so it's not that lockout.  Thanks in advance.

If it was running, the solenoid is working.  If it died, the only thing the solenoid does is power the starter.  I’d invest in a $20 volt meter and check your wiring as a whole.

It's fixed.  Turns out the problem was the two push-on plugs that go to the switch on the PTO lever.  It looked like they were hooked up OK, they were barely hooked up to the spade on the switch.  Starts every time now.  Thanks.
