I'd ask about a replacement before trying to modify it. Lincoln doesn't have the older style available anymore. They can be modified by cutting part way down and bending the top forward. I've not tried it. This is what I am told. As to the knob, I suppose heat it up? And remove it... then reinstall. @76c12091520h Brian does have the correct style.
