1977 c-120 auto clutch spring

I’m looking to see where a 1976 c-120 automatic  original clutch return spring actually mounts? The second photo is the repair that was done at one time . Thank you

Is that a snapped off remnant of a bolt above and behind the current location?? Maybe there was a mount there???

@whtractors24  dare I ask ? are all  movement  areas , rusty  or  movable ?  penetrant / red aerosol  spray grease  works wonders , pete

It mounts inside the hood stand and is a PITA to hook up.. Probably why someone made the repair you showed

OK a couple pics of the hook up.... the hidden end of the spring goes to a hole in # 6-61 cam neutral plate

I just went through this with a '73 auto. I'm going to true it up with a better anchor point now that I'm sure it works well but here is what I fashioned to avoid digging in the hood tower...

I'd like to make a suggestion on the spring position.  Flip it over so the tang ends point down. I've lost some in various machines over the years because they can lose tension and gravity takes over.

I ought to do something like this for my 78 C-141 Auto. The brakes are a bit lacking.
