Butler 2 #1 Posted 19 hours ago (edited) Looking for help repairing the "braking" I own a used Wheel Horse 16-38 HXL. Model 71225. Looking for help repairing the "braking". Any manuals with diagrams or sites that might help? I've removed the right wheel and removed the cotter pin & brake adjusting nut. I have 2 issues 1. looks like CLUTCH/BRAKE ROD is no longer connected to the BRAKE SPRING. When I push down the PEDAL-CLUTCH/BRAKE, i can feel the CLUTCH/BRAKE ROD move but the BRAKE SPRING connected to the actuating arm doesn't move. How do I connect those? 2. Feels like the actuating pins on the "brake unit" are rusted / frozen in place. How do I remove that unit to repair or replace? (Note: actuating arm is hiding the actuating pins in this picture.) Thanks in advance. Butler Edited 18 hours ago by Butler
Retired Wrencher 6,737 #2 Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Butler I am not familiar with this model. I am sure someone will come along give you help. Enjoy the site. We have lots of manuals for these tractors here. There is a lot of members going to the big show this weekend so it might take a little time for them to react to your post. As you noted, I can't figure out how it is assembled. How I can remove it. I can see the parts i marked in green I am able to see the parts i marked green, including able to feel the actuating pins (#38), which are behind the lever brake (#37). But, I am stumped on how to "open it up" to get at cleaning the actuating pins (#38) and get at the brake rotor/stator (#41). Looking at possibly removing these, to open it up? gwest_ca-(File Mod) 12,294 #6 Posted 3 hours ago What is at the top of the flat bar? Whatever it is remove it and tap the bar off the bottom bolt. I think I can see the cotter pin hole for the adjusting nut. Tap the bottom of the bar of the threaded bolt. You have the castellated nut off of it do you not? I'm thinking the bar should pivot on the stud sticking out. Likely rusted solid. Apply a penetrating oil and work it off the stud which is item #39. Let us know what happens.
