stumplifter 11 #1 Posted 5 hours ago A thousand apologies. I am 3.5 hours away from tractor (520xi 73542). Deck is 78363 - 48”. Wife called and said blades were stopping, she is done for today. I asked for details and she thought it was related to the pitch… uh, what? I asked if she had to disengage and reengage the mower lever she said yes. Asked if the ‘engaged’ light was on when blades stopped, she didn’t know. Asked if it happened when backing up - no. Allegedly this occurred 6 times and then was ok. This was after 1.5 hours of mowing, on terrain that we have mowed before. She didn’t mention any odd noises, but also wears noise-canceling headphones. She said she would raise the deck tomorrow and look to see if anything is wrapped/ bound up on spindles. Getting ready for bed here (4:00 wake up), feeling anxious about this (3.5 hours away!) and looking for thoughts/ suggestions for troubleshooting this. Appreciate the help. thanks Paul
SylvanLakeWH 31,587 #2 Posted 5 hours ago Without earphones on, I'd have her check belt movement when engaging / engaged. Squealing etc? I'd also check for sticks rocks etc that may be jammed in the works. Finally I'd have her check for correct connection to the tractor. Perhaps she could text you a few photos so you can assess if it's all connected properly.
stumplifter 11 #3 Posted 4 hours ago Did text her to listen for any odd noises as well as removing side panels, pop hood and try to peek behind the engagement lever (we have mice up there, never experienced them on the Toro, but did have an issue with an 81 XJ 650. 🤨 2 weeks ago I put newly sharpened blades on, cleaned and greased things. Reinstalled deck and mowed for 4 hours with no issues. Also installed new ignition switch.
