FLtractor 188 #28 Posted June 26 (edited) Are there any videos showing the splash transmission such as the 1960s wheelhorses… how they lubricate the gears. Also while I’m here on this durable thread I started.. what’s the best towing gear for 856?1st due to lowest=strongest.. slowest speed for safer? I've never seen a video but basically they roll the lower gears IN the oil and it spreads to the rest at a good speed. 6 hours ago, FLtractor said: Also while I’m here on this durable thread I started.. what’s the best towing gear for 856?1st due to lowest=strongest.. slowest speed for safer? Doesn't matter. Whatever speed is safe for conditions and keeps your engine speed above half throttle.

Above half throttle to help keep the engine cool enough from over heating?

Here is one, skip ahead to around the 2-minute mark. It's obviously not a WH transaxle, but the physics is the same.

A bit disingenuous, IMHO, because the speed is very slow and doesn’t show the effect of oil being flung off a spinning gear.

True, but it at least gives a visible idea of the physics of the situation. It actually doesn't take much looking for find guys running those displays up to 5200 RPM with drills, but then it gets harder to see how the oil moves from gear to gear.
