jsp_333 291 #1 Posted 23 hours ago If your tractor is still wired per the diagram, connecting the two seat switch wires together is telling the system that you are NOT in the seat. and The BLACK and ORANGE seat switch wires being joined together with the PTO on will prevent the magneto from producing a spark, just like the operator leaving the seat. So guess what I did. I had a no start/ no sound issue with a 208-4sb. A bit of a toy that I would really just like to get running and sell. So my first action to the no start was joining the 2 seat switch wires together assuming that would bypass that condition in the whole start up ignition sequence. I messed around with a couple of other wires in the pto switch and got it to fire. But when I threw the pto switch the engine died. Do I need to get a new seat switch and wire it back up. I would really like a work around to the whole seat switch thing.
953 nut 66,736 #2 Posted 21 hours ago Let your conscience be your guide, we never advocate the removal of safety features of any type. Safety switches are seldom at fault when the engine won't start but they are frequently eliminated and could lead to an injury. The seat switch will NOT prevent the starter from turning over. Download the " Demystification Guide" for your 208 and look at the starter and ignition sheets. Chances are the 15 Amp fuse or fuse holder need to be cleaned or replaced, this is a common problem. jsp_333 291 #3 Posted 20 hours ago (edited) Yup I have the guide. Thx. Fuses already checked, fuse holder cleaned and fuse replaced with new. Also I don't own a single tractor with a working seat switch. Edited 19 hours ago by jsp_333
