WHwest8597 85 #1 Posted October 8, 2009 I'm going to look at a 314-8 with 42inch sd deck, tiller, blade, wheel weights, front counter weight and chains. The tractor is 10 years old with almost 800hrs. Is $1500 to much money for this? Any feedback appreciated.
whfan74 2,071 #2 Posted October 8, 2009 Well as many people have stated......it is only worth what you are willing to pay for it. It sounds like it has a nice collection of accessories that will do just about everything a person could want. Of course we are unable to give even a ball park figure without any pictures. This is always the million dollar question. For me, I wouldn't pay that much for that package. As many members will tell you, those that are patient are usually rewarded. It is a good tractor that you are looking at, a real work horse of a machine. It all depends on how badly you want it. Sorry I couldn't have been more help to you. Duff 206 #3 Posted October 8, 2009 That makes it about a 1999 model? If the machine is in really fine condition and has been meticulously maintained, and all the accessories/attachments are also top-notch, then $1,700 may not be out of line. I had to dig back through your posts to find out where you were from (PA). Horses aren't terribly scarce in your area from what I've read here, so that shouldn't factor into the price. Bottom line, I guess, is if you think the machine is worth it after you've seen and driven it, then go for it! You're probably already thinking along this line, but I'd make a lower offer and see if the seller will meet you somewhere in the middle. Others will, I am sure, offer their own thoughts as they see your post. It's always hard to "price" a tractor for someone because there are so many variables. Good luck! WHwest8597 85 #4 Posted October 9, 2009 Just got home from looking at the 314-8 package. The tractor was actually a 50th Ann. Ed., which I already have one. The deck was 42in rear discharge. The blade was in good shape, but needed a new wear bar. The tiller was in great shape. The tractor was in good shape for the most part. It had 856 hrs. The only problem was the the left back tire had just been plugged and the plate that the fender is attached to and goes below the gear shift was broke. The asking price for the tractor was $1500. I offered $1200. The owner said he would only take $1400. I asked if he would just sale the tiller. He said he wanted $500 for it. I felt the tractor was worth $600, the tiller $400 and the blade $200. The tractor did come with wheel weights and a front weight. I have seen the 50th Ann. Ed. Tractors in better shape and less hours go for about $900 at auction. I'll continue to look.

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,527 #6 Posted October 9, 2009 He will call you back when he finds he cannot sell it. For $1400 you should be able to find a 4 or 500 series with the same package. Good luck-
