Hour meter on ‘76 C160-8

Recommended Posts

Have been searching and it looks like from what I’ve read on the forum that I should have a hour meter on my C160 but I do not. I read in an older post that they were standard staring in ‘74. Would it be somewhere else other than the console?

Nope, it would be there in the center console/shifter plate area or in the dash.

That's where they were mounted. I've had a bunch of 1974 to 1977 C160s go through here. Several did NOT have an hour meter.

Standard?... mmmmmmaybe....?

If I have an extra one you'd be welcome to it.

Connect it to a battery backwards and he can claim it's NOS!

I sure do appreciate the offer! I doubt I’d ever fool with hooking it up. Kind of glad mine didn’t come with one, I’d be scared to death if I could actually know the hours on it LOL.

My 314-8 has around 1100 hours on it, that worries me enough. Although it doesn’t smoke at all and still seems to have good power.

Keep it serviced and you should be about half way to the first rebuild on the engine.

That’s good to know. Wasn’t to sure of the life expectancy on it but was going off how many hours we get out of our Toro equipment at work. I’ve spent 24 years at the same golf course in the turf industry. We’ve used nothing but Toro equipment and had exceptional service out of them. I know wheel horse was a totally different animal but wasn’t uncommon for us to get 3-4 thousand hours out of Kohler stuff. It was kind of an impulse purchase, but I knew I wanted one and it seems to be relatively well taken care of.
