JoeM 9,985 #1 Posted Wednesday at 08:01 PM (edited) Always looking at equipment for unusual engineering, found this chain drive steering on a Steiner 3 wheel tractor on FBM today. I seen others having a similar setup but found it interesting how it was under the hood and between the engine. We had a 3 wheel Cushman Truckster at the golf course. It would do close to 40 and if you turned the wheel too sharp on wet grass you went for quite a ride! 1

Think the engineers made the steering wheel shaft capable of adjusting the chain tension? Here is some more interesting stuff on this model--it’s a two way! https://www.facebook.com/hartmansteiner/posts/as-we-promised-heres-some-more-photos-and-info-on-the-steiner-3-wheeler-produced/2952810881478032 Edited Wednesday at 10:56 PM by Handy Don

I see a master link on the chain might be the other option??

This thing was too clever for its own good with all the extra mechanicals and compromises that would rarely be needed. No wonder it was superseded by the articulated models very quickly. To me, it is a fine example of learning from trying where it might seem like a failure, but it leads to something great.
