Steiner Trike Steering

Recommended Posts

Always looking at equipment for unusual engineering, found this chain drive steering on a Steiner 3 wheel tractor on FBM today.

I seen others having a similar setup but found it interesting how it was under the hood and between the engine.

Engineering part is cool and all…but I gotta say that looks like it would be fun to drive!

Don't turn it too sharp! :auto-swerve:

We had a 3 wheel Cushman Truckster at the golf course. It would do close to 40 and if you turned the wheel too sharp on wet grass you went for quite a ride!

Note the taperlock bushing on the large sprocket and apparent lack of tensioner device...

Think the engineers made the steering wheel shaft capable of adjusting the chain tension?

Here is some more interesting stuff on this model--it’s a two way!

Is this the same Steiner as the Steiner that supplies lawn and garden machine parts?

yeah, by the looks of the rub marks on the top it is a tight fit to slide it off.

I see a master link on the chain might be the other option??
