953 nut 66,476 #3 Posted June 3 The ignition systems on the Wheel Horse 414 changed from battery powered to magneto during its' production run. This also forced a change in the wiring so we will need to know the model number (on a sticker under the seat) or the type of ignition system. Two of the wires are for the safety switch function of the seat switch. If the PTO is in the ON position and the operator leaves the seat the engine will stop running. Depending on the type of ignition the yellow and orange wires perform this function but in the case of the battery ignition it interrupts voltage to the ignition coil and in the case of a magneto ignition system it grounds the magneto preventing it from functioning. The third wire (light green) goes to the indicator light display and illuminates the light when the operator is in the seat with the ignition ON. In some cases the wires are black with a slight tracer color stripe so you may have to look closely to find the color.
