Easton Rich 1,192 #1 Posted 6 hours ago Here is my 65' Lawn Ranger we named "Randy". Last July at a show it quit. I figured out the intake valve was stuck shut. I've previously made some posts about it, but never really in-depth ones. Here I will take a HH60 Tecumseh of a 656, rebuild it, paint it, and refresh the tractor. Here are some before and after photos before I pulled it apart. It still needs cleaned, but this will be a progressive thread. 4
Easton Rich 1,192 #2 Posted 6 hours ago After I pulled the engine, I tore into the new one. Its off of a 656, so that means its an HH60. It looks pretty good on the inside, but I'll still be re-ringing and resealing it. 4
Easton Rich 1,192 #3 Posted 3 hours ago Next, I removed the head and cleaned it up. First I used a wire wheel, then used 400 grit on the mounting surface, and finally stepped my way down to 1000. I painted it with a high temp metallic silver that I had kicking around.
Easton Rich 1,192 #4 Posted 2 hours ago Here I took off the battery tray off to clean it up. Dawn Powerwash and a scrub brush works wonders on grease and grime. I need your opinion on should I paint it or not?
8ntruck 8,843 #5 Posted 2 hours ago "should I paint it or not?" Your tractor, your choice. If it were mine, I'd shoot some paint on it for corrosion resistance. Then again, my tractors are workers, and having one part with bright shiny paint not matching the rest of the tractor would not bother me. Others, though, might think that painting the battery tray means the rest of the tractor will have to be painted.
Easton Rich 1,192 #6 Posted 2 hours ago I'm like you, I try to fight corrosion as much as possible.

Easton Rich 1,192 #10 Posted 31 minutes ago Tappet was suuupppeeerrr diveted and the cam wasn't in its full form which explains why the engine never ran right. It froze up after I let it sit
