pfrederi 20,479 #1 Posted 23 hours ago I am a bit of a pack rat and rarely throw anything away. I have accumulated a decent collection of belts. Figured I would have a 72 inch so i could test the hydro on the 875 junker I got. I have 69.5 71 73 and 74 no 72. She came with a dead B&S 10hp. So I got out an M8 I have had and got it installed enough to test but no belt. Engine hasn't been used in a few years fired up and runs pretty well. If the hydro works have to decide if I make it permanent. The front end need work Axle pivot is wobbly and the steering shaft flops around, Never realized back then WH did not put a bearing on the front end of the steering shaft. 6

Retired Wrencher 6,627 #10 Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Paul always good to have spare parts and belts. I have a few and one belt bought from the dealer years ago. Never could install on a start/gen engine. To long. Still hanging up in the second flor of the garage. I keep it as a memories of the old days when picking was easy! squonk 46,383 #11 Posted 5 hours ago I need to take a picture of the belts hanging around at work!
JoeM 9,878 #12 Posted 4 hours ago When the local hardware store closed is when I went into full blown having my own stuff. Belts bolts etc, got to have them. 13 mile trip one way now. Neighbor called last fall when he was working on his bath remodel. Got any small lags, yep, up in the shop on the back wall in the orange tray. Help yourself. He said wow! that was nice no trip to town and got it finished. He replaced the ones he took and I told him that was not necessary. He said, oh no, might have to barrow them again! 3
SylvanLakeWH 31,320 #13 Posted 3 hours ago I guess I'm fortunate. Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, Ace, Do It Best, Harbor Freight, and 3 auto parts places within 3 miles... but, I miss the little neighborhood hardware store that went out of business about 10 years ago...
squonk 46,383 #14 Posted 2 hours ago We had a little hardware store that closed about 6 yr's. ago. Had everything in there. Had the wooden floors that moved as you walked. One of those ladders with rollers so it would slide along the wall to get stuff way up. The whole works! 1

Big box version: the ultra slow hi lo with a flagman, lights, beeper and closure of an entire isle... after waiting 1/2 hr for help...
8ntruck 8,836 #16 Posted 1 hour ago I'm lucky. I've got 3 small town old fashioned type hardware stores within about 5 miles. Two of them have the old wooden floors with basements - stashed full of stuff. I'm recognized in all 3 when I walk in.
oliver2-44 11,467 #17 Posted 59 minutes ago 4 auto supplies, tractor supply, orange and blue big box and 2 fairly well stocked Ace 8 (nuts and bolts) 7 miles away each direction. Nuts and bolts are no issue. Tractor Supply has reduced number of belts and the auto supply's don't stock anything very long. My shop is getting crowded as parts storage vs working space. Plus same shop is my wood woodworking shop, every task shop. Parts storage at the farm barn is not a good option 2-1/2 hours away. Plus the barn, while dry is not a great place for engines or transmission parts that I don't want to rust. I'm trying to get myself to do a major reorganization, but somethings have got to go elsewhere.
