6wheeler 676 #1 Posted 11 hours ago Hi all. So, I was at an auction last weekend. (How many stories start like this). I bought this nice Honda HS624 snowblower. ( I missed this nice 3 bottom IH plow I was really after while bidding on a rake for my brother). Not yet able to go home empty handed, I had to get something . So, I got this snowblower. It runs super nice. The only thing right now is that it is low on hydrostatic fluid. I looked under it and it looks like it leaks. It drives fine so it must not be completely out. Does anyone know how to change the fluid? I do not see any kind of drain plug. The little fluid bottle says honda hydrostatic fluid. But, of course. I don't have any. Can I use something else like 5w-30? I would use Rotella 15w-40 like I use on my WH's but maybe I can't. I have never had one of these (I mean any snowblower) before. I usually use a shovel and my Bobcat. I have some places the Bobcat won't fit. The older I get? The less I want to shovel. Henceforth, a snowblower. So, do I need to go chase down the honda juice? Or convert it to dinosaur gravy. Any help on these machines is greatly appreciated.
ri702bill 12,044 #2 Posted 11 hours ago Ah, a track machine. At the time it was made, the Honda was the only model with a device to disengage the drive to allow the machine to freewheel & be pushed if inoperable. Competitors had to wait until the snow melted...
6wheeler 676 #3 Posted 7 hours ago Thank you. But, sorry. This is a wheeled machine. It does have a dis-engagement lever though. It looks like it will be an ok machine. I think .....
