WHX?? 56,235 #1 Posted 22 hours ago Anyone else having reservations on going to the BS because of fuel costs? I was talking about this the other day with @Achto. I didn't figure the cost of diesel to get us there and back and don't want too as that might seal the deal breaker. I'm afraid to list anything in the buy sell thread in case we can't (afford) to go. Dan has already sold a few things on it to be delivered. One of my main reasons on going is to sell a few things... and have a old fashion with Wallfish ... Yak with @Mike'sHorseBarn ... features ... 7
953 nut 65,468 #2 Posted 21 hours ago The extra amount I will have to pay for fuel will be offset by the fun we can all have at the BIG SHOW compared to staying home and watching the grass grow. Being there and seeing @wallfish, @squonk, @Pullstart, @Mike'sHorseBarn, and guys like me do stupid things is well worth the drive. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE! 4 4
squonk 46,224 #3 Posted 21 hours ago I have 3 engines to deliver so I'm going. I'm considering not bringing a trailer with a tractor on it. At $5 a gal it would save me about 70 bucks. We'll see. Maybe if I decide to sell a tractor the trailer will be going.
JoeM 9,796 #4 Posted 21 hours ago I am going to go but probably going to nix the box trailer in place of a regular trailer. The box puts a big drag on the fuel gauge. It almost cuts it in half. I am not as fair as uncle Jim, his fuel bill got to be huge. Just scaling back some.
702854boy 675 #5 Posted 21 hours ago We weren't full decided yet, using a 1983 Winnebago as our driver and then a box trailer behind that we get like 5-7 miles a gallon

Pullstart 69,862 #7 Posted 21 hours ago I’m not sure if I’ll haul Norman’s deck to get better mileage and less tolls, or the new coach. I think I it’s just me rolling again this year. @WHX?? @Achto drive to my house and we’ll car pool in the coach! 3 2

Sparky-(Admin) 25,098 #9 Posted 20 hours ago This topic came up yesterday, might take my truck (gas) over my sons truck (diesel). Also might roll down with an empty trailer to save fuel, and just use it to haul back anything we buy …if we buy
WHX?? 56,235 #10 Posted 20 hours ago (edited) Actually not a bad idea Kev. More riders to split the fuel & toll $$ kinda takes the ouch out. Just got off the horn with @Shynon tring to talk him into going. Now that Joe Bob is retired maybe he'll go. 57 minutes ago, JoeM said: going to nix the box trailer in place of a regular trailer. That's an idea too Joe but we stay in the enclosed and I get the same mileage no matter what's plugged into the 7 pin. Might run out of tractor room in a 14 footer too. I can't imagine going without a trailer. I got both features! Edited 20 hours ago by WHX?? Speeling 4

Been going since 2010 so I've seen everything Wheel Horse tractor, don't need parts or tractors, and certainly don't need a 7 hour drive while missing work. But what I do need is to hit the "family reunion" at the BS to see my father and old friends and yak BS at the BS. It's good for the soul to be there and believe many others feel the same way. And yes, I'll school you on Old Fashions so there's that too! 2

Mike, all you need to do is sell something like the trailer hitch you sold me last year and you're golden. $75.00 and I've never used it.
Ed Kennell 45,842 #17 Posted 12 hours ago 44.4 miles for me. 44.4 X 4 = 177.6 miles / 12mpg =14.8 gallon x$4.39 = $64.97 If 13 of you clowns buy a $5 bucket, I'm covered. 8 hours ago, JoeM said: 1

Mike'sHorseBarn 3,490 #19 Posted 12 hours ago @WHX?? You only live once! I think Kevin @Pullstart would at least strap you to the roof to save you some mileage
wallfish 19,811 #20 Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Just did some math 408 miles at 10.5 MPG dragging a trailer (possibly worse mpg) = 38.6 gallons @ $4.15 = $160 each way so $320 just for fuel. (might need to up that cost by the end of June and the PA prices coming back) I can make it down without stopping for gas if no trailer in tow, I hate stopping because of the time vortex. Stop for only 10 minutes but somehow you're 30 minutes or more behind schedule. IDK how that works but it always works! adsm08 4,372 #21 Posted 11 hours ago Meh, I spend more fuel running the kids around to stuff I don't want to be at. And I think I'm looking for an engine this year. My one is still giving me issues.
ML3 2,264 #22 Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Hoping to make it to show. Just have so much going on & seems like I can't get ahead of the "to do" list especially since my dad passed a year ago. There's responsibilities at my mom's house now too. If I can make it I don't think I'll drag a trailer load of my tractors. Might just take 1 in the bed of truck. Car pooling sounds like a great idea Edited 2 hours ago by ML3
