Overnight the same night we got quite a rainstorm, perfect for settling the plowed garden. Once it dries out I will get it tilled and start planting.

Meanwhile, the cabbage plants I babied through the winter have made some nice heads. I took two heads, chopped them, and am making some sauerkraut in a recently-acquired crock. I really like this crock.... it has a water seal between the top of the crock and the lid.... it lets fermentation gasses out, keeps air out. I'll let it ferment for another week or so. Last year I made my first batch of kraut using a food-grade bucket w/lid and a vapor lock in the lid. It turned out WONDERFULLY!
