ebinmaine 78,231 #3 Posted 8 hours ago Can't say for sure but those look quite a lot like bicycle tire tube installation tools I've seen in the past 2
ri702bill 11,815 #4 Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Paul - do yourself a favor to avoid frustration. Inflate the tubes to about 5 PSI a few days before you plan to install them. I lay each on a hard flat surface, put either a stout piece of cardboard or plywood on top. And a brick on top of that... Take a tape measure to get a dimension from the top of the board to the hard surface below. Let it sit 2 days and remeasure. Verify they hold air.... That is an excellent idea...mind the say every tube is "filled with air by the manufacturer for 48 hours test to ensure good air tightness" yeah right... New tubes that don't hold air...electronic parts that don't work out of box Edited 5 hours ago by pfrederi 2
ri702bill 11,815 #6 Posted 4 hours ago Ah, the "joy" of cost reduced consumer products made in the Offshore Facility. Methinks maybe they get seasick & upchuck in the shipping container on the way over...
ebinmaine 78,231 #7 Posted 4 hours ago I've had tubes here that were new and had the rare custom ventilation slit by the valve. I wasn't a fan of that setup so they got returned. I know that's kinda fussy of me.
953 nut 65,189 #9 Posted 1 hour ago When I bought my A-60 @Achto and @WHX?? picked it up for me and offered to put new tires on it for me. I bought the tires and tubes and had them shipped to Jim's address. He proceeded to mount them and when he inflated them both of the rear tires had bad NEW tubes, they split wide open. Its been a few years back but I went through several "new" tubes that were bad but have had pretty good luck since then. All the bad ones came from local tire shop, so I decided to start ordering my own and that's when my luck turned around. 6 hours ago, ri702bill said: Paul - do yourself a favor to avoid frustration. Handy Don 16,253 #12 Posted 9 minutes ago 8 hours ago, pfrederi said: Definitely tire irons for helping slip the tire off of and then back onto a rim. Being plastic, they can slide along the rim with little risk of damaging it. The square notches at the near end are for adjusting the spokes on bicycle wheels!
