FLtractor 163 #1 Posted April 12 Afternoon, Anyone know what these 2 threaded bolt holes on 856 are intended to be used for? And what size bolts fit inside by chance?
kpinnc 18,296 #2 Posted April 12 Those are for the PTO bracket that was available as an add on. 8-3411 was the part number or similar. The same system came standard on later machines. I had the same thing on my Bronco for a while.

Interesting.. wasn’t aware the 856 was available with an optional PTO since mine has neither rear or front PTO shafts… I’ve been thinking of mounting my fuel pump to those bolt holes since any other options even under fuel tank seem difficult given how my choke cable and fuel tank valve are situated
702854boy 803 #4 Posted April 12 I thought those holes were for if you had a sickle bar mower, I never asked about it but that's just what I thought, I didn't realize you could get that style of pto on a short frame tractor

For 1 inch shaft engines, it was PT-7. PT-7 manual The hard part to find is the engine pulley because it is so much smaller on pre 1968 machines.

It is my understanding that this type of PTO was used on the big block models (10hp and up) The small block models used a PTO that was operated by your foot. Like the one on my 867 in the pic below. Probably same dash pedestal used on all models. If I'm wrong, please educate me. Edited April 12 by Achto

The 7363 pulley pictured above was key. But the manual page has the following listed: Edited April 12 by kpinnc 1

Correct that the standard changed, but the PT-7 kit was only an add on option. 1

I googled that part #.. and bought 2 bolts listed in the download description.. get home and they don’t fit those 2 holes above my 856 logo. Any chance you know what size fits in those holes? 702854boy 803 #13 Posted April 13 What would the holes there on an 854 be then because all three of our 854s inclouding the one that is original, since the lever style pto didnt come out till 66. Looking in the sales brochures and people with sickles, I had assumed that they were for the mount that goes on the side of the dash stand to hold the bar up when no in use.

Don’t know if it’s in the right place or not, but it looks like it is in the right place. Edited April 13 by John2189

Maybe the PTO just used those holes because they were already there. Who knows? Wheel Horse engineers did some "different" stuff, and were all about using what they had on hand.
Retired Wrencher 6,690 #16 Posted April 13 FL tractor. We do not need this because every thing runs off the engine pulley. Many parts on these where mass produced so that particular area fit a lot of other frames.

On my 855 the bracket for the HY-2 pump is bolted down there.
