grinchsr 667 #1 Posted April 9 Am I understanding correctly that my 36" tiller ( 07-36TL04) only takes one quart of gear oil? It seems like it should require more.
ri702bill 12,104 #2 Posted April 9 That makes sense. It is a rather small, compact gearbox unlike a Unidrive. You never completely fill an enclosed cavity full of oil - as it heats up, it builds internal pressure. If it is not vented, it can send a lot of oil out under the seals... 2
lynnmor 8,827 #3 Posted April 9 There is a large drive chain inside that will drag the oil to the top of the case.
Skwerl58 824 #4 Posted April 9 I just took mine apart and reassembled it. I added 28 ounces of 85 140 and it is super quiet and no leaks.
