How Do I Stop Eaton Burps

Recommended Posts

Bill D

How can I stop this?  Never did it last year.  This year it won't stop.  Second time this spring.   My other 416H doesn't do it.   Thanks.

Your transmission level indicator is clogged. Get a piece of really small mechanics wire and run it up through the curved part at the top. Then spray some brake clean up through it.

In addition to clearing the dipstick vent, don't fill the transmission higher than 1/2 way up the dipstick hash marks.  Temperature changes during storage adds to the problem.

Cleaned the vent in the dipstick handle.  We'll see what happens next weekend.  Unfortunately I have no time for tractors during the week.

Still burping oil out of the dipstick vent.  Any other ideas?

Is your dipstick and dipstick tube the original and in good condition?  Did you run the tractor till it got up to full operating temperature before parking it?  I do believe that you can do everything just right and they will still burp occasionally.

You might want to invest in pee pads: Amazon Basics Leak-Proof Dog and Puppy Potty Training Pee Pads with Quick-Dry 5-Layer Super Absorbent Surface for Dog Training, Floor Protection, Regular Size 22x22", Blue & White, 50 Count

My weenie dog likes to hang in the garage with me. While I think the pads are a great idea, I wonder if she'd be confused?

My 199X 416H can't reach top speed.  The cam plate hits the arm where it attaches to the transmission as shown in photo #1.  Does anyone know why this happens on some tractors and not others?  Is there a way to fix it without grinding something down?

Photo #2 shows my 1994 416H which has full linkage travel and can reach top speed.  I don't see an obvious difference between the two.

Thanks for the help as always.

I wanted a pedal control for my recently acquired GT1800.  This is what I came up with.  It still needs some finishing and I may rework the foot pedal.  It's basically bolt on other than drilling a 7/8" hole in the belt cover.  I'm also considering building an automatic neutral return if I can find the right torsion spring.  I would appreciate any input and advice.

Can I change the hoses on my GT1800 without draining the transmission?  Thanks.

I have a GT1800 that I have swapped an M14 into.  The original drive belt is too long for the Kohler.  I tried a 7473 belt and that was too long.  I'm guessing I need an 81" belt.  Does anyone know for sure?  I'm thinking it should be the same length as a 314H?   I'm trying to avoid multiple trips to TSC with the price of gas.  Yes, I do have the correct hydro pulley on the Kohler.  Thanks.

I've got an Eaton 1100 in a GT 1800.  I noticed that it pushes quite easily after it had been sitting and not running for awhile.  The manual says the transmission should lock up when pushed, but this one doesn't.  I've had it running and it does move okay.  It will lock up if you try to push it right after you shut it off?  It hasn't been running in a month, and now it pushes easily.  Is this normal or do I have a problem?
